Meeting in Italy

Report 

                 In the period 21-25 November 2016 the 3rd learning/teaching/training activity of the project “Don’t Throw, Make It Glow!” took place in Carini, Italy.

The aims of the meeting were:

  • Organization of joint workshops for recycling plastic;

  • Planning the activities for the 2nd project year

  • Realizing cultural and social exchange among teachers and students

Participants:

Malta: 2 teachers / 6 students

Greece: 3 teachers/7 students

Finland: 2 teachers/ 6 students

Romania: 3 teachers/ 7 students

Teachers and students from the hosting institution.

Partners were warmly welcomed by teachers and students from the host institution with a show performed by students and a school visit. There were also organized workshops for recycling plastic and sporting games. The workshops were followed by exhibitions and on the last day the host institution awarded prizes for the best works.

Besides these activities, Italian partners organized sightseeing trips in Carini where the Castle of Carini was visited. There was also organized a documentation visit to Palermo and Bagheria, where the Recycling Center was visited.

Students had the possibility to have a social and cultural exchange, being hosted in families, this helping them to interact with their partners.  The workshops were organized in mixed teams, so that students had the possibility to improve their communication skills in English and also a little from partners’ languages.

On the last day of the meeting, Italian partners, together with a local environmental NGO organized a planting tree session for the students who were very pleased to participate.

On the same day there was organized a project session during which the activities for the second year were planned, as well as the carrying out of the final products.

At the end of the meeting all teachers and students received certificates of participation.
